Nyobolt
Nyobolt is a Cambridge-based battery technology company developing ultra-fast-charging battery systems that maintain their performance over thousands of charge cycles. Founded in 2020 as a spin-out from the University of Cambridge, the company's proprietary anode chemistry and cell architecture solve the fundamental trade-off between fast charging and battery longevity — a key barrier to adoption of electric vehicles and industrial robotics.
Nyobolt's batteries can charge from 0 to 100% in under five minutes without significant degradation, making them particularly suited to high-utilisation applications such as electric vehicles, power tools and industrial robots. The company is co-founded by CEO Martin Frost alongside Dame Clare Grey, a leading Cambridge electrochemist and battery expert.
In March 2025, Nyobolt raised £22.6 million from IQ Capital Fund, Latitude, Scania Invest and Takasago Industry to scale its manufacturing and accelerate commercialisation.
