CoGrammar Raises £25M to Expand Online Coding Education Globally
April 25, 2024
CoGrammar, the London-based online coding education company, has raised £25 million in a funding round backed by business angels. The capital will be used to expand the company’s reach across its two main platforms: its UK-based coding review and education services, and HyperionDev, its South Africa-based coding bootcamp which has become one of the continent’s most prominent technology education providers.
CoGrammar was founded to make quality coding education more accessible and affordable. Its model combines online, part-time coding courses with a distinctive code review service, in which trained reviewers provide detailed, individualised feedback on student submissions — a model that the company argues produces better learning outcomes than automated testing alone.
HyperionDev, CoGrammar’s South African subsidiary, offers a range of software development bootcamps and has trained tens of thousands of students across Africa. The platform has partnered with universities and received backing from initiatives including Google’s Grow with Google programme, and has been notable for offering bursaries and accessible pricing to students in lower-income markets.
The raise reflects continued investor appetite for edtech platforms that combine strong completion rates with job-placement outcomes. CoGrammar is particularly well-positioned as demand for software development skills continues to grow across both developed and emerging markets.
The funding will support team expansion, marketing, and the continued development of course content across web development, data science, and software engineering disciplines.
