Amanda Cai

Amanda Cai is a Chinese-born entrepreneur and fintech innovator who has built her career at the intersection of financial services and technology. Originally from Shanghai, she spent over a decade in investment banking, accumulating experience across risk management, corporate finance, and derivative pricing — expertise that gave her a sophisticated understanding of financial product structuring and risk. Prior to founding Jove, she founded a recruitment technology platform, a venture that exposed her first-hand to the fragmented and often inadequate state of insurance products available to the flexible workforce.
Cai founded Jove in London in 2020 with the conviction that the global insurance industry had fundamentally failed contractors, freelancers, and small businesses. The traditional insurance model — designed for permanent employees working in fixed locations — had not kept pace with the rise of remote, cross-border, and gig-economy work. Jove's AI-powered platform addresses this with a fully digitalised, subscription-based model that delivers borderless business insurance, instant compliance verification, and seamless integration with HR, ATS, and talent marketplace platforms. The 30-second quote-to-purchase journey and the ability to pause coverage between contracts represent a paradigm shift in how insurance is sold and managed.
Jove secured £3.6 million in seed funding in late 2024, led by Explorer Investments with participation from Seed X, Love Ventures, New Alpha Asset Management, Exceptional Ventures, and Start Ventures. The company has established commercial partnerships with major global recruitment firms including Hays, Magnit, Remote, and InterEx, and in early 2025 launched a Pan-European Business Liability Insurance product covering contractors across 30 countries. Cai has been recognised as one of a new wave of women-led insurtechs reshaping the global insurance landscape.
