Avinav Nigam is the Founder and CEO of TERN Group, a UK-headquartered AI clinical workforce platform he launched in 2023 after a career spanning multiple continents, leading roles at global technology and consumer companies. An IIT Bombay alumnus in Chemical Engineering, Nigam has described his alma mater as the place that taught him that intelligence alone does not solve problems — persistence does. That ethos has defined the audacious scope of what he is building at TERN.

Before TERN, Nigam accumulated 15-plus years of leadership experience across some of the most prominent technology ventures in the UK and South Asia. He served as VP at The Walt Disney Company, held senior roles at PayU and CARS24, and was a Board Member and Co-founder and COO at IMMO Capital, a UK proptech company. He has lived and worked across India, Japan, the UK, Germany, and the UAE — an itinerary that gave him direct, personal exposure to the friction of international migration, the gap between the talent available in countries like India and the opportunities accessible abroad, and the ethical failings of the recruitment industry that is supposed to bridge that gap.

The founding of TERN grew directly from these lived experiences. Arriving in the UK himself and observing both the acute healthcare talent shortage in the NHS and the talented Indian professionals falling victim to unethical recruitment practices, Nigam co-founded TERN with his IIT Bombay classmate Krishna Ramkumar. Together they built the world's first AI Clinical Workforce Platform, which integrates sourcing, credentialling, training, relocation, and settlement into a single pipeline. At the Series A in September 2025, TERN served more than 650,000 healthcare professionals from 13 countries and operated in six markets.

Nigam has been recognised as a prominent voice in the global Indian diaspora narrative and has spoken publicly about TERN's mission to make India the skill capital of the world while strengthening healthcare systems globally. TERN's $33 million in total funding, from investors including Notion Capital, RTP Global, and Presight Capital, reflects growing institutional recognition that ethical, technology-driven healthcare workforce mobility is one of the defining infrastructure problems of the next decade.
