Avinav Nigam

Avinav Nigam is the founder and CEO of TERN Group, an AI-powered global healthcare workforce platform headquartered in London. An IIT Bombay alumnus and second-time entrepreneur, Nigam has built over $10 billion in startup enterprise value across India and Europe over the course of his career. Before TERN, he scaled Cars24 — India’s largest online used car marketplace — into a multinational business across multiple geographies, and founded IMMO, a UK and European proptech platform that grew to €2 billion in assets under management. His background sits at the intersection of platform economics, marketplace dynamics, and technology-enabled services at scale.
The founding insight behind TERN Group came from direct personal experience: witnessing both the exploitation of overseas healthcare workers in international recruitment systems, and the human cost of care continuity failures affecting people close to him in the UK. Launched in 2023 alongside co-founder Krishna Ramkumar, TERN set out to build what it describes as the world’s first AI Clinical Workforce Platform — an end-to-end system that sources, credentials, trains, and deploys healthcare professionals across international markets ethically and at speed. The platform reduced international hiring timelines from 6–12 months to under 10 weeks, cut costs for NHS trusts by up to three times compared to locum-heavy models, and achieved a 96% candidate retention rate.
TERN Group raised £4.3 million in seed funding and subsequently a $24 million Series A led by Notion Capital, bringing total funding to $33 million. With over 650,000 professionals registered from 13 countries and more than 100 healthcare clients including 18 NHS trusts, Nigam is building the infrastructure to make global healthcare careers faster, fairer, and more transparent — with India as the skill capital at the heart of the model.
