Deepak Ravindran is the co-founder of Oddbox, a London-based food-waste subscription service that buys surplus and cosmetically rejected fruit and vegetables direct from UK farms and delivers them weekly to customers. Founded in 2016 with his wife Emilie Vanpoperinghe, Oddbox is a certified B Corp and has raised over £20 million in funding, including a £16 million Series B from BurdaPrincipal Investments in 2021.

The idea came from a wonky tomato Ravindran and Vanpoperinghe ate at a Portuguese market — and the discovery that around a third of UK farm produce is rejected by supermarkets on cosmetic grounds. Oddbox has since delivered more than eight million boxes and rescued the equivalent of over 96 million meals from waste. Ravindran originally led growth and customer experience as Chief Customer Officer; he now sits on the board and leads strategic business development while Vanpoperinghe runs the company as CEO.

Before Oddbox, Ravindran spent more than a decade in financial services, including consulting roles at Deutsche Bank and analyst positions at HSBC, Northern Trust and BNP Paribas. He started his career as a finance analyst at 3M India and holds an MBA.
