Krishna Ramkumar

Krishna Ramkumar is co-founder and COO of TERN Group, the London-headquartered AI clinical workforce platform that mobilises healthcare professionals from emerging markets into high-demand health systems across the UK, Europe, Gulf, and beyond. An IIT Bombay Gold Medallist, Ramkumar brings a multidisciplinary background that spans management consulting at Boston Consulting Group, venture investment at Nexus Venture Partners, and social impact work as co-founder of Avanti Fellows — a non-profit that has helped thousands of under-resourced students access quality science education in India.
Ramkumar and TERN’s founder Avinav Nigam launched the company in 2023, motivated by their shared conviction that the global healthcare workforce shortage was both a structural crisis and a solvable one. For Ramkumar, whose experience spanned both the investment side and the social sector, TERN represented a chance to apply technology and platform economics to a problem with genuine human stakes: skilled healthcare professionals in countries like India being held back by slow, opaque, and often exploitative international recruitment systems, while hospitals in the UK and Germany ran chronically short-staffed. As COO, he leads TERN’s operational delivery, compliance infrastructure, and candidate-facing services — ensuring that the platform’s ethical-mobility promise is delivered consistently across 13 source countries.
Under Ramkumar’s operational leadership, TERN’s AI-enabled matching platform has achieved hiring cycles as short as three days in pilot deployments, maintained 96% retention across placed candidates, and processed thousands of placements across six core markets. The company has raised $33 million in total, including a $24 million Series A led by Notion Capital, and serves over 100 healthcare clients globally including 18 NHS trusts.
